Local Outreach
We take seriously Christ's command to reach the world with the good news of
His love, and we believe the world starts in our own back yard. Here are the
ministries we are involved in locally.
Monday Night Church is a complete church service
that happens on Monday night - worship, preaching and "Monday School" for the
kids. Then, when church is over, a great meal, prepared by loving volunteers, is
served for any who would like to sit down and eat. People find genuine love and
acceptance at Monday Night Church.

Shepherd's Garden is an 18-month program providing
practical instruction and spiritual development for people ready to let Christ
change their lives. Sometimes members of our community need a little extra help
when they've been out of the work force for an extended period of time.
Participants are trained in life skills such as budgeting, time management and
job interview preparation. They perform duties as part-time employees of First
Baptist Church as well as attend Bible studies that develop their relationship
with Jesus Christ.

Hospitality to International Students (H.I.S.) is an
effort to befriend international students attending Modesto Junior College and
California State University, Stanislaus. Dozens of students come to Stanislaus
County from all over the world and never see the inside of an American home.
They desire to make friends here and we want to help meet their needs in the
name of Christ. Those who come to know our Lord take His love back home with
them.
The School Prayer Team prays for local schools. It's part of
our vision to be an increasing influence in the public school system. Our desire
is to have at least one person praying for every school in the area.

Christian Berets was founded by Don and Helen
Crooker in 1970 when God prompted them to start a non-profit to minister to the
disabled and handicapped community. The history of Christian Berets is filled
with story after story of God's grace and provision of land and funds for the
ministry. Today, Christian Berets has a conference and retreat center located on
46 acres of wilderness in Sierra Village. Throughout the year
"differently-abled" guests and their families can come to camps and retreats
that are adapted to suit their various needs. The aim of Christian Berets is "to
communicate the Gospel message so that every guest can understand it and respond
to it according to his individual needs."
Advancing Vibrant
Communities - this is a local organization that pairs people who
have specific needs with people who can meet those
needs.
